Eight stages, one contract. You sign off at each one before the next begins.
Crated
01
Brief and sketch
A sketch, a render, a reference photo or a full drawing set is enough to start.
You get Questions back, then a plan and a price.
02
3D model and render
We model the piece at full scale and render it in its room, in its finishes.
You get Renders your client can approve.
03
Engineering and shop drawings
Every part, joint, fixing and access panel is drawn and dimensioned in feet and inches.
You get Shop drawings to sign, and stamped calculations where needed.
04
Samples, mockups and approvals
Finishes, materials and critical details are sampled before production.
You get Physical samples and, where it matters, a full-size prototype.
05
Programming and nesting
Cut files and toolpaths come straight from the approved model.
You get Parts that match the drawings you signed.
06
The build
Woodshop, metal, acrylic and glass, sculpture, scenic, lighting and graphics work on the same piece in parallel.
You get Progress photos at each milestone.
07
Finish, test fit and crating
Finished to your samples, assembled in the shop, checked, then crated for the trip.
You get A QC check against the drawings before anything leaves.
08
Delivery, install and strike
Trucked to your window, installed to the venue’s rules, struck and stored when it’s over.
You get The piece in place on the date, and a clean strike.
Questions buyers ask
What do you need from us to start?
Whatever you have: a sketch, a render, a reference photo or a full drawing set, plus the install date and the venue or address. We reply with questions, then a plan and a price.
How do you keep a complex build on schedule?
We plan backward from your install date: sign-offs, sample dates, shop time, finishing, trucking and load-in. You see that calendar before production starts, and it is updated whenever anything moves.
How are changes handled once production has started?
Every change is priced and scheduled in writing before we act on it, so you always know what it does to the cost and the date.
Do you work with union crews and venue rules?
Yes. We plan each install around the venue’s rules, load-in windows and labor requirements, including union crews where the venue requires them, and we issue certificates of insurance for every job.
Can you run several builds at once?
Yes. Multi-location rollouts and multi-piece events are planned as one program, with one approved prototype or sample set governing every unit.
How do you keep the finish consistent across trades?
Every finish is sampled and signed before production, and each trade works to the same physical samples. Pieces are assembled and checked together in the shop before they ship.
Do you handle storage and redeployment?
Yes. We strike, store and redeploy pieces for the next date, venue or city.
What happens if the timeline compresses?
Tell us the new date. We show you what can move in parallel, what has to change and what it costs, before any work changes.
Do your materials meet NYC fire requirements?
Yes. We specify flame-retardant materials and fabrics, including NFPA 701 certified textiles, and supply the certificates NYC venues and the FDNY ask for.
Who is the contract with?
With NYC Fabrication Workshop LLC, for the whole job: drawings, build, finish, delivery and install.
Send the drawings and the date.
